We’re feeling really inspired by ‘the stupidest idea ever’. It’s spawned KeepCup, a global business that’s saving millions of cups from landfill every year.

Australians consume on average 9.2 coffees per week, from the simple flat white to the tongue twisting double shot soy mochaccino, so it’s no surprise that millions of disposable coffee cups end up in landfill every year.

Melbourne cafe owners Abigail Forsyth and her brother Jamie noted the increase in popularity of these takeaway cups and were shocked at how much packaging was being thrown away daily. After much trial, error and being told their goal was unachievable the KeepCup was born.

Based on the standard sizing of their takeaway counterparts, KeepCups are a stylish reusable alternative to disposable paper cups. Standard sizing ensures your cup will fit any coffee machine and will save baristas having to work out if they need to charge you more or less than normal. At some cafes they might even give you a discount for bringing your own cup!
